Tao, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, removes the needles
from the wrist of Regina Karasvewski of Quarkertown, at his office
on Wednesday. The needles in acupuncture remain in specific spots,
depending on the ailment, for up to 20 minutes. Tao was trained
in Taiwan in the early 1980s and has been practicing Chinese medicine
in the Lehigh Valley for the past 11 years. Chinese medicine has
been around for nearly 2500 years and ranges from acupuncture to
herbal medications. Tao mostly sees patients with neck, shoulder
or lower back pain. (Rob Kandel/Special to The Morning Call) Jan.
